Near the area where the Olympic Village will be built is a cat colony that is managed by a large group of passionate volunteers. The Fondo Porta Romana, in line with institutional collaboration and guidance from the Municipality of Milan and ATS Lombardia, animal welfare organizations and the wardens of the colony, has sought a solution to protect these animals during the works in the area. A shared journey was embarked upon to gradually move the colony away from the area where the major construction works will be taking place. On the advice of those involved to ensure adequate shelter for the cats, the Fondo Porta Romana also purchased two mobile homes that were moved close to Scalo, away from the noise and dangers of the site. The volunteers and some representatives of the Fondo, alongside the Municipality of Milan, will regularly monitor the relocation of the colony, intervening promptly if necessary.
